Final stretch to the Finish of Leg 1
About 30 hours until Peter crosses the finish line of Leg 1!
All these beautiful images by Manon Le Guen from the departure from the pontoon and the start of the race. Enjoy!
The northeasterly breeze has held and pushed the fleet towards Santa Cruz de la Palma. The first to cross the finish line was a prototype boat with an elapsed time of 9d 19h 40min 38sec! Several other boats have since finished and the rest of the fleet is close behind. Peter is expected to finish between 1400 - 2100 on Friday 6 October.
Keep cheering Peter on! The breeze is forecasted to lighten up a little over the next 15-20 hours but we are hoping it doesn’t completely die. We are excited to see him in La Palma tomorrow!
Thank you to everyone that is following along and cheering Peter on! I know we are grateful for the community that has rallied behind him and he is proud to represent the USA and U.S. Patriot Sailing. We have reached the 50% goal for fundraising for the campaign but your donations to support this campaign are still needed, with changes in flights, bringing home several (six) checked bags worth of Peter’s equipment and all his freeze dried food (45lbs worth!) for the Leg 2 of the race, the additional unplanned expenses have added up quickly. Any support is greatly appreciated! Please click the Donate button below to support!
While we have some awesome sponsors, we still need your support to finish this mission. Every donation helps, THANK YOU!
If you are able to help, please consider donating through U.S. Patriot Sailing for a tax-deductible donation or through our GoFundMe page.
